Despite the fact that the reigning worldchampion finished day 1 in 13th position, Nicky Hayden is positive and is having a good time at the Jerez circuit.
“This morning, it was definitely encouraging to be up front at the sharp end and it was fun to be riding back here at Jerez.
This afternoon, we didn’t exactly go backwards but we didn’t go forward as much as I’d have liked – and everybody else went quite a lot faster.
But we’re definitely a lot closer than we were at the first race in Qatar, and I’ve got a much better feeling on the bike than I did at the first race.
Also, the bike seems to be running quite a lot smoother here in the cooler conditions. I just need to try to bust on through that mid 1:41 bracket and get in amongst the front guys.
We’re working on a few things tonight so that I can move up tomorrow and try to get on the front two rows at least.”

Nicky Hayden is getting himself ready for the GP of Spain. The Repsol Honda rider didn’t exactly had a dream start at the GP of Qatar; he was struggling all weekend and finished in 8th position. Even though the bike wasn’t working the way he wanted it, he didn’t want to whine or make any excuses.
But round 2 of the MotoGP season is bringing a new chance to fight and climb up the championship ladder. Nicky Hayden said about the GP of Spain:
“I’m definitely looking forward to the race at Jerez this weekend. The Spanish crowd, the atmosphere – everything about Jerez is fun and the passion the fans show is amazing.
The last test there went quite well for me and I’m looking forward to getting out on track, trying to get a good feeling with the bike and having some fun. It’s round two and I’m aiming to fight back strongly after Qatar.”

Nicky Hayden and his team mate Dani Pedrosa hit the streets of Madrid on Sunday and brought the Spanish capitol to a standstill. The event organised to celebrate the official launch of the Repsol Honda Team was joined by 8000 enthousiastic motorbike riding fans. Both Repsol Honda riders were leading the massive convoy on Honda CBR1000RR Fireblades to the Palacio de Deportes. Police escorted them along the 7 km route.
After the motor ride they appeared on stage and answered questions and pleased the fans by signing autographs.
